Hi friends,
I hope you are all back from your breaks and its now time to build new experiences until the Long-list and Short-list are announced. As your Chevening interview date approaches, this issue is dedicated to empowering you with strategies to take advantage of the time left and to build more experiences, prepare for the interview, and ensure you step into that interview room or the Zoom Call with confidence.
📝Part 1: Building New Initiatives for Enhanced Leadership Experiences
Identify Gaps: Reflect on your current experiences and identify areas where you can contribute further, especially in areas where you want to work in the future. Look for gaps in your community, workplace, or academic setting where your skills and passion can make a significant impact so that you show the panel that you have work experience in your future field.
Community Initiatives: Nothing beats success in the Chevening acceptance more than launching community initiatives. They are powerful ways to showcase leadership and be an agent of change. Whether it's a skill-building workshop, a mentorship program, or a fundraising campaign, these endeavors demonstrate your commitment to positive change thus giving you more chances to excel in this journey.
Collaborate and Network: Collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations. Networking not only expands your reach but also opens doors to new opportunities. You have at least 3-5 months left to expand your networks and find life-changing opportunities. Attend relevant events, engage with professionals, and foster connections that align with your goals. 📝Part 2: Preparing for the Interview
Review Your Application: Revisit your Chevening application and essays. Familiarize yourself with the experiences and achievements you've highlighted, and make sure to update yourself, your networks, and your experiences to provide updated information for the panelists. The interview often delves into your application, so be prepared to elaborate on the points you've presented with more updated and concrete details.
Research Current Affairs: Stay informed about current affairs, both globally and within your field of interest. Be prepared to discuss how these events relate to your academic and career goals, showcasing your awareness and adaptability in the past, present, and in future.
Mock Interviews: Hone your interview skills with mock interviews with friends, siblings, mentors, coaches, or other Chevening aspirants. If there is no one to help, enroll in my Interview Preparation Course or opt for the Mock Interview Services with me on my website.
