Hi friends,
Firstly, I am sorry for missing to write last weeks newsletter. Although, I use a lot of automation in my daily life but still I do not want to use AI to take care of my newsletter because through this platform I am directly talking with my beloved followers. Feel free to ask your questions at the comment section of my newsletters.
Secondly, I hope you’ve submitted your Chevening application and had some days of relaxation and enjoyment. Navigating the UK university application process is a crucial step for Chevening aspirants, and in this issue, we'll unravel the intricacies of applying to UK universities. From key application points to securing impactful recommendation letters, we've got you covered.
📝Part 1: Applying to UK Universities - Key Points and Tips
🎯 Research Thoroughly: Begin by researching universities and their programs. Do this not just for 3 but as many as you can and do not limit yourself to only the universities that you have selected in the Chevening Portal. Remember that you can always change your universities at the Interview. When researching, consider factors such as course content, faculty expertise, and location.
🎯 Check Requirements: Each university may have slightly different requirements. Pay attention to academic qualifications, language proficiency tests (like IELTS, TOEFL, etc.), and any additional documents needed for specific courses.
🎯 Personal Statement: Craft a compelling personal statement that outlines your academic and professional journey, your passion for your field, your previous (academic) achievements, and how the chosen course aligns with your career goals.
🎯 Application Timelines: Be mindful of application deadlines. Most universities have fall deadlines, but some courses may have earlier or later deadlines. Submit well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
🎯 Book Consultation Session with me: If you need help and want to get acceptance in your favourite university, then feel free to book 1:1 Consultation Sessions with me on my website. www.sirathaidary.com
📝Part 2: Recommendation Letters - Academic and Professional
You still have the chance to upload your recommendations in the Chevening Portal.
Academic Recommendation:
Approach a professor or academic mentor who knows you well. I highly encourage you to get an academic reference from a Prof. who has taught you the subject that you want to major in. Ensure they can speak to your academic abilities, achievements, and potential for success in your chosen field. Provide them with your CV and a clear outline of your academic and career goals. Please keep the following points in your consideration to explain and expect your referee to add:
How long has (s)he known you?
In what capacity does (s)he know you? (Academic),
When did (s)he had last contact with you? (being or maybe after graduation)
a brief overall endorsement:
skills in leadership and networking
personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities
Ability to complete a demanding academic programme in the UK. Here, the Prof. should write about a course, assignment, project, research, and something academic that you were assigned and you have successfully completed.
Professional Recommendation:
For the professional recommendation, choose a supervisor, manager, or colleague who can attest to your work ethic, leadership skills, and contributions to your workplace. Share your career aspirations and how the Chevening scholarship fits into your plans.
How long has (s)he known you?
In what capacity does (s)he know you? (Professional: Full-Time job or in Volunteer capacity)
When did (s)he had last contact with you?
a brief overall endorsement:
skills in leadership and networking (very important)
personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities
Ability to complete a demanding academic programme in the UK. Here the referee should provide details on how a Master's degree will help you achieve bigger things in your career field and life, and become an agent of change.
