Hi friends,
Letβs start writing the 4 Chevening essays and what is very important is:
Doc Preparation and Essay Draft Brainstorming
To kick off our special six-part series on the Chevening Scholarship Essay Writing Guide, let's dive into Step 1: Document Preparation & Brainstorming.
πPart 1: Document Preparation
Before you begin crafting your essays, it's crucial to have all your documents in order. Think of these documents as the building blocks of your application. Therefore, it is good to think about them as early as possible.
Here's a checklist to ensure you have everything you need:
Academic Transcripts: Gather your academic records, including certificates and transcripts. If it is not in English, it is better to translate it into English through a recognized body in your country.
Letters of Recommendation: Reach out to your referees (your professors or employers) as early as possible. Provide them with ample time to write strong, personalized letters of recommendation that speak to your qualifications and potential. If you need help with more tips and tricks for recommendation writing, check out this video for Academic Recommendation writing and this video for Employer Recommendation writing.
English Language Proficiency: If English is not your native language, be prepared to submit valid English language proficiency test scores, such as IELTS or TOEFL. Chevening might not require you to submit an English score but it is a requirement for ALL universities to submit your English score.
Passport: Ensure your passport is valid and will remain so throughout your Chevening Scholarship journey.
Work Experience: If applicable, compile documentation of your work experience, including job descriptions, roles, responsibilities, and achievements. You need to fill in some parts of the application as well as the University application portals.
Valid University Offers: If you've received university offers, keep copies ready. Chevening requires unconditional university offers by the specified deadline. You do have some time for this, but it is always to be prepared.
Seek Help: Don't hesitate to find friends, mentors, or colleagues to help you with brainstorming ideas. You can book consultation sessions with me at www.sirathaidary.com or you can enroll in my essay writing course to learn tips and tricks to prepare yourself and win the award.
π Part 2: Brainstorming
Now, let's turn to the creative side of your essay preparation for Chevening Application: BRAINSTORMING. This is your chance to explore your experiences, passions, and goals. Here are some tips to get your brainstorming process off to a strong start:
Reflect on Your Journey: Consider the significant events, experiences, and challenges that have shaped your life and career. Think about moments of personal growth and what drives you. Who you are, what you want to solve and what is your passion are key points to finding the answer.
Define Your Goals: Clarify your short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals. What do you hope to achieve with a Chevening Scholarship? How will it contribute to your personal and professional development? What problem will you solve in your country and how?
Identify Your Strengths: Recognize your unique qualities, skills, and accomplishments. These will be crucial in crafting Chevening essays that set you apart from other applicants. These should be shown indirectly in your essays.
Research Your Field of Study: Delve into your field of study. Familiarize yourself with the latest developments, challenges, and opportunities in your chosen field in your country of the world. Compare it with the UK and see what and how different is it in the UK, what can you learn from it and how will you incorporate it in your own country.
Seek Feedback: Don't hesitate to discuss your ideas with friends, mentors, or colleagues. Their perspectives can provide valuable insights. You can book consultation sessions with me for one hour or more at www.sirathaidary.com or you can enroll in my essay writing course to learn tips and tricks to write a winning essay.
Remember that document preparation and brainstorming are the cornerstones of your Chevening Scholarship application. Sometimes, we are not able to do it alone, therefore, it is always important to seek help from close ones. Stay organized, unleash your creativity, and be ready to seize this incredible opportunity.
Wishing you a week filled with early preparations, determined strides, and the conviction that Chevening Scholarship success is yours to attain.
